January |
Most of the FM Instructors took the necessary workshop/training to
become authorized Zumba Fitness® Instructors. Since January, we
have been busy trying to keep up with the demand for our Zumba
Fitness® classes. To keep the quality of our classes, we have
turned away numerous requests for our classes. By incorporating
Zumba Fitness into our list of specialty classes, it gave our
long-time clients (and our new clients) another taste of trying
out something new, yet sticking with our familiar program! |
|
February |
Debbie became the Webmaster and Creator of the
www.ZumbaofMichigan.com
(AKA www.DetroitZumba.com)
website. This website is dedicated to the entire state of Michigan
authorized Zumba Instructors. The legal department of Zumba LLC has
approved the website. Thanks to Debbie’s hard work on promoting
our classes! |
|
April |
We gave a Zumba Demo
at the City of Farmington Hills, Family Fantasy Night. A few of
our clients joined us for the Demo. It was fun having the
community (especially the little children in their fantasy
costumes) join us! |
Donna and Debbie
gave a Zumba Presentation at a large corporation in
Ann Arbor.
As you can see by Debbie's
famous funny face,
the event was a hit (so it that what I look like too when teaching!?!? Poor
clients!!)! |
|
May |
We were featured in
the Detroit Free Press in May. Although there was an unflattering
picture of Debbie in the Newspaper that spread all over the
internet! (clients told Debbie to
stop making those faces, because it will one day stick!), the article was a success! It brought in a few
hundred requests for our classes and other opportunities for other
Michigan Zumba Instructors
statewide. |
Seniors Meals on
Wheel Walk at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills – This was our 3rd
year kicking off the Walk. Please plan to join us in May of 2009
and help a great cause! |
|
June |
Debbie was
one of three Instructors, nationwide, to be selected as the
Zumba Instructor of 2008 from the
Zumba Instructors Network (ZIN). |
Donna and Debbie
continued their Zumba training by attending a weekend workshop in
Pittsburgh. They had a lot of fun learning new routines and
attending a party with the Zumba Fitness creator, Beto Perez and
his team. |
Over
the summer, we launched our
Online Store via Café Press. Now everyone will be able to
wear our Hoodies and T-shirts. Our popular Cardio Boxing Logo and
our new FM Logo are available at our online store. |
|
September |
In September, we
were extremely busy! We had a successful FM Benefit Party,
featuring Zumba. The money that we raised helped one family and
two seniors from the Farmington Community. It gave us much
pleasure to do this! A
few students already asked if we plan to do this again! The answer
is YES! |

We were part of
the first annual Focus Hope Wellness fair in Detroit! We jammed
in their courtyard, to the beat of fun music and tried our best
to get the crowd moving with us! It made us laugh and it was a
good time! |
|
October |
The end of October,
our FM class was featured on WXYZ/ABC-TV 7 news! We received well
over 400 emails and the emails are still coming in! |
We welcome,
with open arms, three new Instructors to the FM Family in
2008. Lori Fera started out training to
teach Cardio Boxing, but grew to love Zumba so much that we have
her teaching Zumba Fitness.
Tiffany Brown and
Denishea (Nene)
Flanigan are currently Instructors-in-training in Cardio
Boxing and Dance Aerobics. |
|
November |
Debbie guest
instructed at Fitness Fuzion in O'Fallon Missouri - she
represented Michigan well! |
|
Personal Note |
On a personal side of the FM Family, Donna moved to MO in
September, because of her job. The FM Team planned a successful
surprised going-away party for Donna (and her husband, Scott). Since
Donna is able to work virtually occasionally, we see Donna
more often than when she was living in Highland! When Donna comes
back to town, she takes the opportunity to teach. Donna is now
searching for a location to teach a few classes in MO. |
It
is saddening to say that we had a great loss among the FM Family.
Laura (and her husband Curtis), lost their beloved son, Jason to a
fatal motorcycle accident. It was (and still is) evident that
Laura and Curtis raised a brilliant, talented, smart young man!
Jason was only 28 years old and left behind family and friends
that will always cherish his memory and will always keep him in
their hearts forever.

|
Our family continues
to grow at a slow pace. We do not want our family to grow just to
have more classes on our belts, we grow because of the
dedication to fitness we all have. We also love the
socializing with each other and our clients. We hope that 2009
brings health and happiness to all of you. |
